Celebrating Bromley local life and Bromley businesses

Our magazines only cover positive news. We have a unique mix of community, business and lifestyle articles, aimed at celebrating local people and encouraging them to support local businesses across the Bromley borough.

Together with regular features, columns, competitions and noticeboards, the magazines are designed to inspire, inform, engage, educate and entertain.

Presented in an easy-to-digest, ‘dip-in and dip-out’ format, the magazines have become a go-to source for positive local information, since we launched in March 2019.

“We are surrounded by negative news on a daily basis. So, as Bromley residents ourselves, in creating Life in…Magazines, we wanted to offer something different, sharing positive news and inspiring people with what’s going on locally.”

Our Values

It’s important to us to bring joy to the local communities for whom we publish content.  That’s why we only cover positive news, features and articles in our content.
As a community magazine publisher – and a small business ourselves – we believe it’s really important to support local, small businesses. We have a regular business section in our magazines and encourage local businesses to advertise with us at very reasonable rates. We also offer other services including design, printing, leafleting, publishing, blog writing, social media content writing and videography to name a few.
We are trusted for our informative and engaging, positive content. And we want to keep it that way. That’s why we only reserve half of each magazine for advertising. We still rely on advertising to cover our costs and provide a range of options to suit all budgets.

All our magazines are printed using vegetable-based inks and on FSC® Certified paper*. We don’t waste any copies – if there are any left at pick-up points when we drop off new issues, we collect the old ones to distribute to local households. We also encourage readers to recycle their magazines when they’ve finished with them.

*This means the paper we use has been sourced from sustainably managed forests and its site of origin is proven and traceable under certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). Every tree felled for paper is replaced by significant growth of new trees in Forestry Commission managed forests.

Meet the team

We have a growing team here at Life In Magazines’ HQ.

Lauretta

With over 20 years’ experience in journalism, Lauretta is editor of Life in Orpington and Life in Bromley magazines. She has a keen eye for double spaces in text, loves interiors and, when she’s not busy working, enjoys mini getaways and pretending she’s on Bake Off in the kitchen.

Michelle

Head of sales, Michelle is a self-professed workaholic but also knows how to have fun. She loves socialising with friends and family and her other interests include travel, reading and theatre visits. She lives at home with her daughter Georgia and two cats and her guilty pleasure is a pairing of chocolate and prosecco.

Nicky

Nicky heads up our design team and knows what works in catching people’s eye! She puts a great spin on the magazine’s style, ensuring it’s eye-catching, imaginative and interesting. And she’s awesome at creating amazing adverts and leaflets for some of our advertisers.

Steve

Assistant Editor Steve is a dab-hand at proofing and he’s also pretty nifty at compiling the monthly puzzle page! When he’s not busy spotting typos, he likes nothing better than tinkering on his piano and chilling out watching a great movie.

Helen

Not everyone likes accounts but Helen describes bookkeeping as “being a bit like Sherlock.” When she’s not busy balancing the books, Helen loves playing netball and running.

The VIPs

Freya and Milo are the company’s mascots. They specialise in play-fighting, long days of snoozing and being obsessed with their feather and bell toy.

The best of the rest

We employ a friendly and trustworthy group of magazine distributors across the borough who are committed to delivering the issues with the care and attention they deserve. All our distributors, whether doing leafleting in the Bromley borough or the magazines themselves, are all GPS tracked.
